Travel Bucket List for 2018
When making a List for Travel every year, It is more of a Mood board of what I would love to see.. Maybe I'll go there, maybe I'll see something else but it is a list of places I am dying to experience.. Here is my inspiration and why I chose this places.
D-Day Landings and Mont Saint Michel
This is my Mother's 60th Birthday Trip. We both have a love of history, wanting to see there Iconic moment in World War 2 History. So What we have decided to do is spend a week driving around Normandy. We first start in Amiens experiencing the Garden Canals "Les Hortillonnages" and the old city. Then driving up to see all the World World 1 sights on the Somme including Pozieres. Spending an afternoon at Dunkirk. Driving down to Calais, Saint Valery sur Sommes (which is the mouth of the Sommes), The White Coast at Etretat.
We go into Normandy, experiencing Old French life starting off at the harbour of Le Havre, the sea town of Honfleur. We then head over to the D-Day Landing Beaches of Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha, Utah Beaches seeing as much as possible of the history. We are staying at the Old Town of Caen, with visiting Bayeux to see the famous Bayeux Tapestry of the Battle of Hastings.
On the way to Mont Saint Michel we are stopping at Granville to go to the Dior Museum. Then spending an day at Mont Saint Michael, then sleeping in Rouen which is a highlight of Norman Life on the Seine River. Before getting into Paris we stop by Monet's Garden of Giverny. It is a full on trip but we can't wait to experience Normandy Life.
Colmar & Riquewihr for Easter
My favourite memories of Easter are always in Alsace. The amount of Blossom Flowers, Blue Skies, the Chocolate but most importantly the Easter Decorations draped over the Historic Alsacien buildings.
My plan is spending 4 days in Colmar and Riquewihr. Visiting Southern Alsace I can't wait to see the Cathedral, the Historic Houses, The Canals and most importantly the Easter Markets.
Lisbon & Porto
I will be spending a week in Lisbon and Porto. It will be nice to head back to Lisbon to see the cities nooks and crannies. I can not wait to go back to Pasteis de Belém to eat those Portuguese Tarts that melt in your mouth.
In Porto I look forward to seeing all the Blue Tiled Buildings, drinking Porto Wine and the Art Nouveau Book Shop Livraria Lello.
Sailing in Croatia
This has been a long time goal for me. I want to see the Crisp Blue Waters, experience life on a boat, swim and relax as well as seeing the City of Dubrovnik. I have booked this trip with Topdeck. Known as The Adriatic Sunsets Tour, it begins in Dubrovnik, stopping at Mijet, Korcula, Vela Luka, Vis, Hvar, Starl Grad and finishing in Split. I see there is even Paddle boarding in Dubrovnik. I can't wait.
La Muralla Roja
This Architectural Wonder is located in Spain. Build by Richard Bofill in 1968. This first caught my eye when watching Martin Solveig's Video Clip "Do it Right". La Muralla Roja offers multiple chances to stay in an Apartment. I would like to spend a weekend there, by the coast enjoying the Spanish Sun.
Visiting Santa in Lapland is an Adult Dream. Seeing Santa, Husky Rides, Reindeer Rides, staying in an Igloo and seeing the Northern Lights. It would be a wonderful experience, not like anything I have done before.
Southern Spain in Spring. This Festival held 2 weeks after Easter. It is all about dancing, eating, and having fun. I want to go to see the rich Colours of the Traditional Costumes, the events, bright lights and fun of this European Affair.
Of course the main desire to go experience Copenhagen is because of my Love for The Little Mermaid (still makes me cry everyday). I want to see The Little Mermaid Sculpture, I want to see Big Bright Houses in the city, be in a country where I can't speak the language and go to the Bright Big Lights of The Tivoli.
Christmas Markets in Alsace
I want to go home for Christmas for a bit. I want to show my Best Friend where I am from on the French side. I would love to show her Colmar, Riquewihr, Strasbourg and home. Alsace knows how to do the best Christmas Markets in the world.
Santorini & Mykonos
I have done the Islands that the Locals go to, but never the ones that are always talked about about. The classic white and blue buildings, the incredible sunsets, the food and the sparkling seas. I want to experience what are the greatest Sunsets in the world.
It is now famous for the amount of TV and Movies being filmed there but I want to see it for the beauty of this Mediterranean Island. It is home to The Blue Grotto, The Popeye Village, The UNESCO Capital City Valletta and so much more. When I have time between work, I am running off to Malta for the Weekend.
I haven't been since 2003. I want to walk this as a Grown Up and see how different it is now. I want to take my time and enjoy each town on this amazing Coastal Area. I can't wait to go back and be Italian.
I hope this inspires you to travel to your hearts content!!
